Mike Jopek, HD4
America
lost its way in politics.
It’s
time to heal our spirit.
Locally,
representative government means looking out for people, for
our community, and Montana. Remember, a
government of the people by the people and for the people.
It is time to bring back the politics of people.
The 2005
Legislative Session taught me many things about government.
First and foremost on that lesson list is remembering
whom we work for. We work for the good folks back in our community, not
special interest. Sometimes
those goals are compatible, but not necessarily.
Political
action group money has taken a toll on both campaigns and Montana
policy. This
is why folks like me are advocating for not taking Political
Action Committee (PAC) dollars to fund our campaigns.
It’s funny, I have sent back thousands of dollars
of this special interest money and it just keeps coming, and
then back it goes for there are too many expectations that
come with these dollars.
I’m a
farmer, not a career politician.
I got elected for the simple goal of service to
community. I
advocate the path of action. If we believe that Montana
deserves a government as kind and decent as our people, then
we have an obligation to be involved in the decisions
regarding policy. Basic
human compassion is critical to politics.

We share so
much in common but always tend to focus on the issues which
divide us as a community.
During the last Session, we developed the most
progressive energy independence portfolio in the nation.
But we have a long way to go.
Efficiency is critical to our energy portfolio.
Your voice
sets the intention for Montana
policy. Please
active your words and let us bring back the politics of
people. In
2005, we kindled a new spirit in Montana. Government
can be good and responsive to our needs.
We need
more graceful leaders that listen with an independent mind,
but mostly we need an active base of progressive leaders,
and people willing to work for Montana, our families and our community. Have faith,
plant the seeds for the next crop, and walk the steps to
work together to till common ground.
